United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi says he will not accept the results of the fresh presidential election held on 23rd June, 2020.
Muluzi who was the runningmate of President Peter Mutharika says the elections were not free and fair.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is the winner of the elections according to unofficial results made available to Malawi Muslim Website.
“If Dr. Chakwera had won the election fair and square I would have congratulated him but unfortunately that is not the case. The election results that are circulating are illegitimate and I will not accept the outcome,”
“This is nothing but a coup – who ever wins must win fair and square. This election is nothing but a farce!” Muluzi said.
President Professor Mutharika partnered with Muluzi under the DPP-UDF Alliance while Dr Chakwera partnered with UTM President Dr Saulos Chilima under the Tonse Alliance.
