Nice Trust Sensitises People to Participate in Fresh Presidential Polls in Mchinji

Nice Trust in Mchinji district has embarked on the activity to sensitise people in the district to take part in the fresh presidential elections.

This has come following the exercise of voters transfer and issuing of duplicate certificates exercise in Mchinji and other districts in the country.

Mchinji district Nice Trust Civic and Education Officer Paul Kanyenda said his office is fully prepared to sensitise the community by using various approaches in accordance with the precautionary measures to curb COVID-19.

“We are really prepared to sensitise the communities to take part in the exercise and we are also using different strategies to reach out the people like using loud hearing by mobile van, writing letters to churches and chiefs, using media platforms such as Mudziwathu community radio as ways to comply with measures of covid 19”, Kanyenda said.

Kanyenda also encouraged the community to turn out in large numbers in different centres to issue the duplicate certificates and transfer of their names.

He assured the people about the security that will be available after the Mchinji police officer in charge Assistant deputy commissioner of police Owen Maganga confirmed to him of deploying the officers in all centres.

“After we got information that we will have the exercise I met the Mchiji Officer in charge who assured me of deploying police officers and in addition we have also deployed our observers to give us update on how the exercise is going on”, said Kanyenda.

Apart from Mchinji district Malawi Electoral Commission has on Thursday 14th May
also started phase one voter verification exercise in Mzuzu City, Mzimba, Ntchisi, Balaka, Zomba and Neno districts.
