Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) yesterday received various items from Nissan Malawi to fight against the Coronavirus which is killing many people in the world.
The items include disposable aprons, face masks, sanitary washing hands liquid and sanitary wall cups (to store the sanitary liquid) .
Speaking when delivering the items to the Ministry of Health Officials and the Airport Commandant, Theodore Amos Katandula (Acting Managing Director of Nissan Malawi) said it is better to prevent than to cure and the country should not go through what other nations are facing now.
“Nissan company cares about this country and it is the duty of companies to help the government when need arises hence Nissan Malawi is at KIA setting a pace,” he said.
Dr. Mary Chimseu Nkunika who is the District Medical Officer (Lilongwe) said other companies should emulate the good gesture of safeguarding our beautiful country Malawi, saying government alone cannot do it all.
The voice of Dr.Nkunika was spiced up by the Airport Commandant, Mr Don Chimtengo who did not hide his joy, saying Airport workers need to be safe all times.
Among the notable stakeholders present at the handing over ceremony were the Airport police, Immigration, Airport Development Limited (ADL), Lilongwe Handling Company (LIHACCO), Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA ), Parks and Wildlife, Airlines representatives and the Port Health KIA .
Nissan Malawi is the first company donating to KIA.
