Muslims in Traditional Authority Chamba in Machinga have hailed Bayani Islamic Organization for reducing knowledge gap among women in the area.
This follows the organizationโs opening of various learning centers (Madrassah) in the area where women are learning Islamic studies.
Speaking when the organization awarded Certificates to 8 women who completed their studies during a function hailed at Ntende Masjid in the area, Senior Group Kapeta said since the organization started madrassah in the area, womenโs perception towards Islam has changed.
The Group Village head said, women used to take part in activities which are contrary to Islamic teachings, but now they are practical Muslims.
โMost of our women were members of grouping which deal with things that have interest in them, but since they now understand Islam, they are able are able to have their own groups which follow religious jurisdictions.โ Said the religious leader.
He the pleaded with the organization to consider opening additional learning centres in the area, so that more women benefit from the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of women who are benefiting from the Madrassahs in the area, Ruqayya Farook who was among the certificate awardees encouraged fellow women who are yet to register to consider doing so, stressing that religious knowledge is paramount in everyoneโs life.
She said, since she started attending madrassah she has learnt a lot about the religion and how to socially spend her life without compromising the Islamic dogma.
On the future of women who are awarded certificates, Bayan Islamic Organizationโs Director Gift Sitima said, they are hired to teach whenever the organization is opening new centres.
Sitima said since they started operating in Blantyre, they have registered tremendous growth as they now have learning centres in other districts.
โAlhamdulillah, we are expanding despite some challenges like books and packages for the Sheikhats, we are growing have Alfirdaus primary and Focus Secondary schools and we have extend madrassahs from that of Blantyre to Zomba, Machinga and Ntcheu.โ Gift Sitima said.
The Director said they focus on teaching women because by teaching them it is as equally as teaching the world.
Bayan Islamic Organization was established in 2013, and has many learning centres where women including female reverts learn Madrassah.
