91 Malawians have been deported from South Africa, Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) reports.
According to DoDMA, the deported Malawians arrived in the country through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA)
“A total of 91 Malawians who have been deported from South Africa for illegal entry, arrived in the country on Friday (12th June, 2020) through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA). A South African plane carrying the Malawians landed at KIA at exactly 11:40 AM,” says DoDMA in a statement.
According to a statement, the deportees will be accommodated at Nalikule College of Education (NCE) in Lilongwe and they have been tested for COVID-19.
“The deportees (9 women and 83 men) were upon arrival, ferried to Nalikule College of Education along the Lilongwe-Salima Road, where they have been accommodated. They have been provided with basic necessities such as food, blankets, pails and soap,”
“Prior to their accommodation, they underwent security, immigration and health screening. They have all been tested for COVID-19,” reads a statement.
