Police in Mangochi district have arrested a manager at Agora Maldeco depot for stealing money amounting to 6.5 million Kwacha.
Mangochi police deputy spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi told Malawi Muslim Website that the incident occurred on the evening of July 31, 2020 at Agora Maldeco depot.
“It is reported that the suspect, Patrick Nachuma 36 years, has been working as a manager of the company for 2 years,”
“On this material day, the suspect vanished without notifying anyone after the company’s auditing team from Blantyre arrived at the premises,” Daudi says.
According to Daudi, following an audit, the team discovered the missing of 6.5 million kwacha which was transacted through company’s Mpamba and bank accounts
“The suspect also went away with company’s three cellphones,”
“Mangochi Police detectives initiated investigations which led to the apprehension of the suspect at Jali in Zomba where he was hiding and has since recovered 5.4 million from the stolen money,” she says.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer the charge of theft by servant which is contrary to section 286 of the penal code.
