AQSA says All Set for this Year’s Eid Milad-un-Nabi

The organisers of Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Malawi AQSA have announced that over 100,000 Muslims from within Blantyre and surrounding areas are expected to attend this year’s event.

Publicity Secretary of the organizing committee Ridwan Omar revealed this yesterday in Blantyre. Omar said all arrangements have been finalized to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) on Tuesday, January 14.

“We are asking Muslims to come and join us to celebrate this auspicious occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi which will be observed with religious fervor and respect on January 14. Strict Security measures have been taken to maintain law and order on the day as this year we are expecting to be a big event with a whopping of 170, 000 participants from different areas around Blantyre,” he said.

Omar also said the celebration will start at 7:30 am in the morning from Kanjedza Masjid and will end at Mpingwe Sports Club around 9:00 am.

AQSA started organizing the event in 2003 with about 5,000 people and of late the number has been increasing with a minimum of 50,000 people every year.

When asked what is so special with this year’s event, Omar said, “It’s a surprise.”
