Muslim Artists Association (Maas) President Noordin Cassim says all is set for the 1440 Art Concert to be held on June 8, 2019 at Blantyre Cultural Centre in the city of Blantyre.
According to Cassim, this is the first ever Muslim Arts Concert which will be held every year with an aim of giving Muslim artists in Malawi enough chance to display their talents.
“This art concert will be a Muslim Artists Association’s annual art festival which we are planning to be holding each year. We are following an Islamic calndar, hence, it has been named 1440 following. This means the next year’s concert will be 1441,” he said.
The Maas President said there has been a big gap in the Islamic art industry and this is one way to bridge that gap.
He said: “We looked at the gap that exist ku Islamic art industry. Most of our events are held under other programs which limit the space for upcoming artists to get a fair share of stage and exposure. We want to unearth the hiden talent and give our upcoming artists space to grow. That’s why we have given this event more hours and as we go along we are planning to be holding it the whole weekend so we can have enough time for all our members.”
The Muslim Arts Concert will be characterised by nasheeds, poetry, drama among other categories. The ticket is going at MK1,000.
