President Dr Joyce Banda has appointedย Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) National Chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad as one of the new members of National Integrity Committee (NIC),ย the committee which oversees the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
The committee was formed by former president late Bingu wa Mutharika.
Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) said President Banda appointed new members โfollowing expiry of term of office of the old committee.โ
The new committee comprises of Chief Secretary OPC, Hawa Ndilowe (executive) who would coordinate and implement activities of the NIC, part of efforts to halt rampant corruption in the southern African nation.
Other members are Joseph Chigona (judiciary), Rev Patrick Semphere (Media Council of Malawi), Voice Mhone (civil society), President of the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mathewsย Chikankheni, Paramount Chief Kyungu, Paramount Chief Kalumbu, Traditional Authority Chikumbu and Francis Mkandawire of Evangelical Association of Malawi.
Other ex-official members are and ย Wezi Kayira Principal Secretary in OPC for good governance and Justice Renzine Mzikamanda (Anti Corruption Bureau director)
