President Peter Mutharika today participated in a panel discussion chaired by Helen Grant, British Member of Parliament on the future of Africa alongside other African leaders at the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London.
“We discussed and debated on trade and investment, future African growth sectors, clean energy and climate, need for improved transport network, need for increased investments in agriculture, secure and sustainable infrastructure and finance which can feed our continent’s demand for sustainable growth,” Mutharika wrote on his official Facebook page.
According to the Malawi president, his main contribution to the panel discussion was that Africa has to move quickly and be ready for further trade with UK.
Mutharika also stressed that in that regard, Malawi is on a steady path.
“We are mobilizing our youth, equipping them with skills and cleaning our business and investment environment to make it competitive,” he said.
Other leaders who participated in a panel discussion are Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, Alpha Konde, President of Guinea and Elizabeth Truss, UK Secretary of State for International Trade who is also the Minister for Women and Equalities.
