The President of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) , Dr Lazarus Chakwera commends Malawi Judiciary for nullifying last year’s presidential elections over shoddy management by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
Chakwera who is the presidential runningmate of Tonse Alliance in fresh presidential polls made the remarks yesterday at Mzuzu Upper Stadium during the allaince’s first joint mega rally.
He said Malawi Judiciary has put the country on the global map for upholding the rule of law.
“Our Judiciary is our pride. The five High Court Judges are our heroes. They refused to get bribes to twist the justice when they were hearing the high profile presidential elections case. Everyone in the world is talking about our Judiciary for being professional,” he said.
Chakwera said the Government of Tonse Allaince will develop the northern region once elected into power on 2nd July, 2020.
He says Mzuzu University will have a new look, Mombera University will be completed and Tonse Alliance Government will also construct Orton Chirwa International Airport where there is Mzuzu Airport, a Government Complex and a state of art referral hospital in the region.
Chakwera also said his Government will turn lakeshore cities namely Nkhatabay, Nkhotakota , Salima and Mangochi into cities to boost the country’s tourism sector.
According to the Tonse Allaince torchbearer, a monthly salary of 100,000 Malawi Kwacha below will have no Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax and civil servants will be receiving their salaries on a fixed date, 27th of every month.
The Tonse Alliance has political parties such as Malawi Congress Party (MCP), United Transformation Movement (UTM) party, Peoples Party (PP) and Alliance for Democracy (Aford) among others.
State Vice President Saulos Chilima who is also the UTM party President is the runningmate of the alliance.
