Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President Sidik Mia refutes claims by some quarters that Tonse Alliance is planning to abolish Islam when voted into Government on 2nd July,2020.
Mia said the remarks today during the Allaince’s Mega Political Rally in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
According to Mia, both Dr Lazarus Chakwera (Tonse Alliance Presidential Candidate ) and Dr Saulos Chilima (Tonse Alliance Runningmate) believe in diversity in religious beliefs.
“Dr Chakwera and Dr Chilima can never do that. If Dr Chakwera hates Islam he would have not picked me as MCP Vice President. We should stop spreading lies aimed at dividing the country,” he says.
Mia urges Malawians to vote for Tonse Alliance for the country to go forward.
“Malawians are tired of poverty, corruption and nepotism. Dr Chakwera and Dr Chilima plus all of us are ready to take this country forward. Vote for Tonse Alliance on 2nd July, 2020 for the betterment of the country,” he says.
Speaking at the same rally, UTM President Dr Michael Usi says Malawi lacks visionary leadership hence the need for change.
“Malawi is lacking visionary leadership. Youth are struggling and Tonse Alliance is ready to turn things around,” Usi says.
Tonse Alliance is comprised of over six parties such as Malawi Congress Party (MCP), UTM party, People’s Party (PP) Alliance for Democracy (Aford), Petra Freedom party and Umodzi party.
