The “Tonse” Government led by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has been arresting civil servants and former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials who are suspected to had commit various crimes.
Among others include
former President Peter Mutharika’s Director of Security Norman Chisale, his wife Assistant Commissioner of Police Evalista Chisale, Former Deputy Commissioner General of Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Roza Mbirizi,
and DPP Councillor for Blantyre Mthandzi Ward Isaac Jomo Osman popularly known as Ntopwa one among others.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed that Chisale was arrested yesterday in Lilongwe but ignored to provide more details saying the case is still under investigation.
His wife , Assistant Commissioner of Police Evalista was among arrested police officers who are involved in killing of Buleya Lule who died in police custody last year when he was arrested on allegations that he killed a boy with albinism in Dedza.
The former MRA Deputy Commissioner General Roza Mbirizi was arrested on Friday and later granted bail on allegations of money laundering among other charges while Ntopwa one was taken into custody over malicious damage and theft allegations among other charges.
Tonse Government promised to create a corrupt free country that will see laws of the land applying on any person found embezzling public funds or abusing office.
