Member of Parliament (MP) for Lilongwe City Central constituency, Alfred Jiya, claims one of the saddest moments of Malawi time was to allow Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and their President, Professor Peter Mutharika to rule and control the nation, claiming the party has left arrears amounting to MK 169.4 Billion originated from unpaid bills by Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs).
According to Jiya, due to DPP’s financial indiscipline it is not surprising that unemployment in Malawi has skyrocketed to unacceptable level.
Jiya says Malawi is a country stripped of its God – given wealth and potential by syndicates of people in the public sector who exploit decades of bad government and practices to enrich themselves, describing the poverty of Malawians as man –made and man –made by DPP regime.
He says it is a sigh of relief that the thieving DPP is ousted from office, plundering of public resources and public funds for personal enrichment calling for the rot, decay and excessive delay in service delivery to come to an end.
Responding to State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament, claims the trillions of Kwachas were plundered without mercy, some of the plunders and looters are in the August House busy defending corruption energetically and are pleading for mercy through their political gimmick saying they deserve no mercy, no lenience and no one should ever think that they can run away their ill –gotten wealth from the arm of the law.
Jiya claims Malawians are happy that there is no political interference, no sacred cows and no political witch –hunting, the time of glorifying thieves is over saying DPP pundits are hating the core of a servant leader, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Administration of commitments to end corruption and making the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) fully independent.
“The ACB is resourced to investigate and prosecute financial crimes such as abuse of Government vehicles witnessed by the abandonment of posh cars that were personalized, DPP corruption emanated from the head,” claims Jiya.
He advised President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that the DPP is deliberately twisting this as political witch –hunting, not to listen to them for they are a reason for having no medicine in hospitals, dwindling education standards, poor dilapidated houses for men and women in uniform, poor roads as death trap, and no portable safe running water in the communities of urban, peri –urban and rural areas.
The parliamentarian prayed for the wheels of justice to continue taking its course , those that are innocent must face the law and proved as such, those that deserve conviction must be convicted, those that deserve imprisonment must be imprisoned, those that deserve punishment must be punished, those that deserve surrendering their ill –gotten wealth must do so and those that were employed dubiously and without following laid down procedures must be fired.
