President Dr Lazarus has faulted Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa for branding his State of Nation Address (SONA) delivered last Friday as the blank page.
Chakwera reacted today during the first ever President’s Question Time in Malawi Parliament.
According to Chakwera, Nankhumwa lied in his response to SONA and it was a must to take him seriously because his claims were to do with nation.
Chakwera responded to Nankhumwa on the need for Tonse Government to give teachers COVID-19 risk allowances that he would make the same when he was in Government three months ago.
Chakwera says it is unjustifiable for Nankhumwa to accuse the current that it has failed to give teachers risk allowances yet he also failed when the DPP was in power.
Chakwera also told the leader of opposition on accusation that the fired Principal Secretaries(PSs) were fired because they were DPP sympathizers that all PSs according to the constitution are supposed to be apolitical.
Chakwera also said it is surprising that some MPs are against the proposed housing project but none of the MPs has come forward to forfeit their housing allowances which cost tax payers money K2.7 billion every term.
On reduction of powers, Chakwera said he will not be responsible for appointment of Director of ACB but Parliament will be hiring the office bearer, he will not control cash flow of Parliament and ensure that is ring-fenced and Parliament is subject to its own audit.
Chakwera was accompanied by Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima in the chamber.
