A student from Mzuzu University (Mzuni) is the new Chairman of National Muslim Students Association (NAMSA) Malawi Muslim Website can report.
A student, Hamzah Jasper DAEL who is in second year pursuing Bachelor of Education- Languages won the post during online elections held on Saturday, 10th July, 2021 with only candidates gathered at Nalikule College of Education in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
The new NAMSA Chairman who managed to scoop 176 votes out of 366 valid votes vows to take the association to the greater heights during his term in office.
“First of all I would like to make awareness campaign of this association to all education institutions of all levels so that students should get to know what is this organization all about so as when approaching them for their participation in due course of achieving planned goals, we should easily be on the same page,”
“I have also planned to coordinate the members of all Muslim Students Associations (MSAs) so that we should really be performing as one body. Without coordination then all my plans during this leadership can’t be achieved because they rely much on team work,” DAEL told Malawi Muslim Website.
He says during his term in office, NAMSA will help needy students by setting target of monthly contribution by all MSAs towards our treasury office. According to DAEL, he has plans to link up the graduates with areas where they will be attending their attachments and Exposing different capabilities of students through publication among others.
DAEL who hails from Kantimbinya Village, Traditional Authority Somba in Blantyre district says he believes in consultative leadership. “Students should expect their much involvement in due course of accomplishment of best interest of Muslims and Malawi as whole. Our leadership will need full participation of every students so as to achieve more together. They should therefore expect more changes that will positively contribute to wellbeing of all Muslim students,” he told Malawi Muslim Website.
DAEL is the first person to become NAMSA Chairman from Mzuzu University.
“It is the first time for this position to reach far North at Mzuzu University. This has happened with will of Allah through how I convinced people in my Manifesto. Actually members just wanted to be convinced with our visionary future plans of the association regardless of where we are speaking from,”
“To win hearts of Muslim students, I was very first person to release manifesto and I sent to some of the institutions. My manifesto contained well elaborated ten points only. Therefore my rivals couldn’t dare to release theirs since mine reached all crucial angles already,” DAEL told Malawi Muslim Website.
