The country’s state Vice President Right Honourable Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, will leave the country on Friday 22nd April, 2022 to attend the 2022 United Nation Economic and Social Council Forum for Financing Development in New York, USA.
According to statement released Monday, 4 April 2022, from the office of the Vice President, Dr. Chilima is expected to return home on 30th April, 2022.
“The Vice President’s Office will have an entourage of 15,” information from his office indicated.
The Vice President has been delegated by His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to represent him and lead the Malawi to lead the Malawi delegation from the Ministry of Finance and other sectors to the four day forum scheduled for 25th-28th April, 2022.
Some of the side engagements that the Vice President is expected to have while in New York include a meeting with the current Chair of ECOSOC.
“The Vice President is also expected to have meetings with the Acting Representative of the Least Developed Countries and the UNDP Global Administrator,” his office’s information further highlighted.
According to the statement the VP has also been requested to make a key Note Statement at a high level Leaders Dialogue on Green and Climate Resilience Bonds organised by United Nations Capital Development Fund ( UNCDF).
