Muslims in the country have been urged to respect their leaders.
The call was made on Saturday this week at Dedza Main Masjid by Sheikh Ibrahim Matola who is also Minister of Energy during the relief distribution exercise organized by Darussunah Foundation.
Matola who was guest of Honour said there is only one leader at a time and people should accept that.
“We have to accept that this is time for Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad as the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) National Chairman. Likewise, we have Dr Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Saulos Klaus Chilima as the leaders of this beautiful nation. Castigating, defaming them won’t take us anywhere. Islam vehemently prohibits us from rebelling our rulers except for one condition — that they are stopping you from worshipping one God, which is not the case in our country. Let’s be in the forefront of being part of the solutions and not pulling each other down. Unity will lead us to a peaceful and happy nation,” Matola said.
Matola added that Muslims should take advantage of the month of Ramadhan to pray for their leaders and their country.
He said: “We are in the month of Ramadhan. Let us use this time to pray for our leaders, the nation and everyone else for the betterment of the country. This is the only country we have, let’s love it, and let’s love one another regardless of our differences.”
