Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola says he will soon summon utility companies, Egenco and Escom to explain to Malawians on the persistent power outages the country is facing.
Speaking in Blantyre where the minister engaged the two companies in different closed door meetings, Matola said Malawians will be in a position to know what is really happening in regards to electricity problems once the two organisations are engaged in a round table discussion.
“As a minister and person am concerned with what is happening and I will make sure that I get answers for this, if it’s sabotage we will know and if it’s some technical faults we will but am assuring Malawians that the truth will be told and I will report to the president what I have gathered here and then the decision will be made.” Matola said
Meanwhile Escom Chairperson Fredrick Changaya said the organisation’s technical team is on the ground working to establish the root cause of the continued power outages.
The Minister is therefore expected to reveal the information gathered in the the two meetings this week.
