Malawi President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera has today commissioned the state of art Phalombe District Hospital.
According to the president, the new hospital will provide people with modern healthcare services.
“The people of Phalombe and surrounding areas will now have convenient access to modern healthcare services at the new Phalombe District Hospital that I have commissioned today,” he says.
Chakwera says his administration, fully conscious of the need for continuity in national projects, and will keep on improving healthcare service delivery to Malawians through modern infrastructure and well-trained personnel.
“Our efforts in the Health sector are in tandem with the national development agenda, Malawi Vision 2063, which places quality, equitable and affordable healthcare as the backbone of a productive society,” he says.
He adds,” We will, therefore, relentlessly invest in the Health sector to attain a healthy population that will consequently transform this nation.”
The hospital is expected to offer modern healthcare services to the residents of the district and surrounding areas. The construction of the hospital started during the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration led by Professor Peter Mutharika.
The hospital was financed by The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA),the Saudi Fund for Development and Malawi Government.
