Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has advised the country to use human capital produced by Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar).
Chakwera made the remarks today when conferring academic accolades on 439 students during the university’s 6th congregation which also coincides with its 10th anniversary at Luanar’s Bunda college campus.
Chakwera said it only took ten years for Luanar to grow into a fortress of academic excellence, making it one of the most reputable universities not only in Malawi but on the continent.
“Malawi should therefore be the first to utilise the human capital the university presents,” he said.
Chakwera added that in an agro-based economy that seeks to harness modern technologies and innovation in transforming the Agricultural value chain, Luanar comes in handy in orienting home-grown solutions to our current setbacks.
“The university gives us an edge in actualising agricultural productivity, agricultural commercialisation, and agricultural industrialisation as the chief cornerstones of the Malawi2063 vision,”
“We will, at government level, continue building capacity of institutions of higher learning to make them relevant to our development agenda,” he said .
Luanar has three campuses namely Bunda College Campus , City Campus and Natural Resources College Campus .
