Muslims in Malawi should tap into opportunities aligning the visions that the country is spearheading to achieve by 2063.
Muslims in the country must have clear and practical strategies in line with the vision. Muslim’s central targets must be in crucial areas such as healthy, education, industry, agriculture , science and technology among others.
As a community, Malawi Muslims should challenge themselves and dream to be at the helm of the game by 2063. They can do it and they must do it.
A source who is close to the top Muslim leaderships in the country told Muslim Media Agency that so far, Muslims have not come up with a clear strategy on what they want to achieve by 2063.
“As Muslims we don’t have a clear strategy. Other communities have strategies and plans that they want to achieve by the time but it is a different case with us (Muslims). I think our leaders must sit down and strategize, then execute ,” the man told Muslim Media Agency.
The anonymous source says Muslims have land for infrastructural developments such as a world class university, Islamic hospital, mega farms and first class recreational facilities.
“We can involve the Government and other development partners to support us in these projects but do we have a live strategy that can support our ideas? Muslims in the country lack visions. We need to develop short-term and long-term goals to re-write our story,” he says.
The source proposes that leaders at Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) , Qadria Association of Malawi (QMAM) and other Islamic organizations to come up with clear visions that Muslims want to achieve during the stipulated time and even beyond.
“We have vibrant Islamic organizations in the country but the problem is that every organization acts independently. Honestly, we can’t achieve great things if we continue acting as an individual. We need to embrace team work and desire to achieve sustainable developments collectively,” he says.
The Malawi 2063 (MW2063) aims to transform Malawi into a wealthy and self-reliant industrialized ‘upper-middle-income country’ by the year 2063. Already, projections indicate that if the economy grows at an annual average rate of 6 percent, Malawi will attain the low middle-income status by 2030.
