On Monday, 13th February, 2023, Darussunnah Foundation donated food packs to over 1000 needy people in Salima central constituency in the lakeshore district.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, the national chairman of the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Sheikh Idrissah Muhammad who was the guest of honor commended the foundation for the gesture.
“I need to commend Darussunnah Foundation and for supporting Malawians here in Salima district and across the country. Giving out charity is important as it is in line with the teachings of Islam,” Sheikh Muhammad said.
The MAM Chairman urged other Islamic organizations in the country to emulate the foundation’s inclusive approach.
“This foundation supports everyone despite his/her religious affiliation. The humanitarian relief benefits both Muslim and Christians,” he said.
In his remarks, Darussunnah Foundation Secretary General, Sheikh Hussein Mussah said the program will target two districts namely Salima and Mangochi.
“We need to bail out people who have no food. We need to support them so that they can afford a smile,” Sheikh Mussah said.
The legislator of the constituency Mr. Gerald Kapiseni asked Darussunnah Foundation to continue supporting the needy people in Malawi.
“I need to urge Darussunnah Foundation to continue supporting the needy people during these hard times,” the Member of Parliament said.
The food packs contain 30 kilograms of maize, 10 kilograms of rice, 10 kilograms of rice, 5 kilograms of beans and 5 kilograms of sugar among others.
The foundation has thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed ibn Rashid Al Maktoum prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai,The United Arab Emirates ambassador in Tanzania, The Dar Bir charity organization and the people of United Arab Emirates , for their humanitarian assistance towards Malawians.
