Sheikh Ibrahim Matola who is also the Minister of Energy has asked Muslims in the country to pray for the people affected by Tropical Cyclone Freddy in the southern region during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
Sheikh Matola made the call in his statement wishing Muslims joyous and fruitful fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadhan 2023/1444 commencing tomorrow, Thursday, 23rd March, 2023.
“I would like to wish all Muslims Ramadan Mubarak following the sighting of the moon in Malawi today, March 22, 2023, as validated by the National Committee of Moonsighting,” he says.
Sheikh Matola adds: ” Ramadan provides us with an opportunity to reflect on where we have been from, where we are now, and where we are going. Therefore, let us take advantage of this chance to pray for our country, particularly the victims of Cyclone Freddy so that the Almighty Allah might console them and grant them their wishes as they try to rebuild their lives.”
The Minister of Energy has also asked Muslims to pray for leaders who are working tirelessly to develop the country.
“Let us also not forget to pray for our leaders who are trying their best to run this country amid numerous challenges,” he says.
Sheikh Matola has asked Muslims to spread peace and togetherness in the Mosque since there is no other better time to do that than now.
Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, five daily prayers, charity, and performing the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah – the site of Islam’s holiest shrine, the Kaaba – if physically and financially capable.
