Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has refuted allegations that the secretariat is biased to candidates contesting on the senior positions.
Speaking in an interview with Malawi Muslim official website the executive secretary of the Muslim Association of Malawi Brother Saiti Jambo asserted the electoral bodyโs respect of the associationโs constitution making elections free, fair and transparent.
โSaying the secretariat is interested in some candidates contesting on senior positions is very unfortunate. What the Muslim community should know is that MAM is corporate body that is governed by the constitutionโ, Jambo said.
Jambo said MAM constitution mandates national executive members to supervise the district committeesโ elections.
He further applauded the electoral body for safeguarding the constitution enacted in 1963.
โThe first phase of the organizationโs district and national elections conducted in 26 districts of the country has been direction focused that will formulate better and collaborative administration of the association,โ said Saiti Jambo.
The Muslim Association of Malawi is conducting districts and national elections of the organization starting from 11 December and will finally elect the national executive month end of January 2011.
