As Muslims, we have tried the rest, but education stands out to be the barometer of today and future desired position of Muslims and Islam in Malawi.
This has been answered by AL-Mahomed Hassam Trust (AHT) which is gigantically spearheading in increasing the number of Muslim students accessing higher learning in various local colleges of our country. In the essence, AHT is characterized to be the corridor of needy local college students of Malawi.
With a humble beginning of sizable number of adopted college students, the trust is geared to increase the numbers to 150 students this year.
AHT Programs Administrator Jafali Idana told Malawi Muslims Website that the Organisations will go flat in aiding needy students in acquiring higher education, since it is the only weapon that can change the community.
“Our organization targets the needy students who have been admitted in different colleges and universities of Malawi with tuition fees who should apply by filling the forms which are available in all Islamic offices starting from yesterday Monday the 9th May 2016.” he said.
Idana said the organization last year sponsored 65 students who are in different local colleges and it has planned to sponsor over 150 needy students in this year
“Our organization does only offer scholarship to local colleges and Universities to first year undergraduate students, and those who qualify are supported until they finish their studies,” said the Programs Administrator.
Idana also said after applying the students will be interviewed especially on their needy status and only the approved students will get the scholarship.
The organization is currently supporting students at Kamuzu College of Nursing, the Polytechnic, Chancellor College, LUANAR, College of Medicine and other public universities in the country.”
However, it is not all safe heaven to secure scholarship at AHT, since students are subject to be removed from the scholarship if they fail to abide by the organization’s term and conditions which include excellent performance and not failing and good behavior not indulging in immoral outrage.
