A cloud of sorrow befell Petroda Filling Station on Saturday June 27, 2015 as the Deputy General Manager Mr Salim Nahdi passed away at Blantyre Adventist Hospital.
According to Mr Zubeir Bhana who works at the company, Mr Nahdi was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He was later buried at Kanjedza Kabrastan after taraweh prayers.
” He was in excellent health…..he came to work on Saturday and knocked off at noon (without any signs of health problems) ….the doctors say that it was a cardiac arrest,” said Mr Bhana.
Mr Nahdi who was 45 years of age is survived by a wife and three children.
The death of Mr Salim Nahdi follows a series of tragic events that have been happening at Petroda where there have been a spate of armed robbers targeting the petroleum company and its filling stations. In December last year, armed robbers killed a Ugandan at their head office in Blantyre and went away with unspecified sums of money. Earlier this year one of their minibuses were hijacked and recently, robbers shot dead a policeman in Lilongwe and went away with about MK 46 million.
