Yesterday, 23rd January, 2023 students at Assalam Boys Secondary School in Mangochi district, mobilised themselves around 1am and stoned the office and hostel blocks against poor diet.
Mangochi Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi told Muslim Media Agency that the students have been complaining to the management after they have been eating beans with weevils and their concerns were not addressed which prompted them to go on hunger strike on 21st January, 2023.
According to Daudi ,the matter was reported to Mangochi Police Station who visited the scene and found no student at the campus.
“They smashed all office and hostel glasses, broken two printers, laptop, genset and other school items,” Daudi says.
Meanwhile the value of the damaged properties is not yet established, according to Mangochi Police Station.
