Tonse Alliance Presidential torchbearer, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera says Chakwera – Chilima presidency will be servant leadership ready to uplift farmers welfare in Malawi.
Dr. Chakwera lamented that Malawi farmers have for years been crying for low prices and lack of markets to sale their agricultural produce, saying this has made the country’s economy not growing.
He says Chakwera – Chilima presidency will revert back as it was during the reign of Kamuzu when farmers were able to grow different types of crops with prices in mind and readily available markets for their produce.
Speaking during a whistle – stop campaign meeting at Kamsonga trading centre in Ntchisi on Friday, Dr. Chakwera says African farmers in other countries apart from Malawi are happy to be farmers as they are able to find markets within the continental grouping countries to Brazil and USA through South Africa.
He says Malawi farmers are poor saying smallholder farmers cannot find markets on their own outside Malawi because its leaders have poor relationship with their colleagues of the SADC region.
…”Here in Malawi, we can do better for our farmers hence voting for Chakwera – Chilima presidency is ready for farmers to reduce their sufferings and be walking with a smile ,”.. said Dr. Chakwera.
On Covid- 19 pandemic, Dr. Chakwera says the pandemic is real and is killing many people around the globe but blames Government for politicizing it saying this has resulted to Malawians not trusting this present Government looking at the figures it is registering.
He advises Malawians to always observe the precautionary preventive measures such washing hands with soap and social distance, among others.
Dr. Chakwera thanks the courts for setting the light of justice to prevail for change in Malawi saying it is now in the hands of Malawians to protect their hard won electoral justice by coming out in their large number on the polling day to vote for a change of Government for Malawi to see the real meaning of freedom with responsibilities.
