President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says this is not the right time to discuss about who will lead the Tonse Alliance in the next elections.
He says the Tonse Alliance Government has just ushered into power a month ago and its mandate at the moment is to develop the country.
Speaking today in “Tiuzeni Zoona ” program aired on private owned Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) , the President says Malawians elected him to lead them for the next five years.
He says centering on who will lead the Tonse Alliance in the next elections can divert Government’s plan to uplift the welfare of Malawians.
During campaign, Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima said Dr Chakwera will first lead the country and then him (Chilima) will take over.
It was not clear on either Chilima meant after the first term of Dr Chakwera or second term.
Constitutionally, Dr Chilima will be ineligible to be the runningmate in the next elections as he had also paired former President Peter Mutharika for the past five years.
A little too early… I think.
