On Monday, 20th February, 2023, top Islamic organization, Darusunnah Foundation donated Cholera supplies at Salima District Hospital in the wake of the disease.
Speaking in an interview with Muslim Media Agency, Sheikh Hussein Mussah who is the foundation’s secretary says the gesture is in line with their agenda of supporting the government and Malawians.
“The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salima Central Constituency Honorable Gerald Kapiseni Phiri asked well-wishers to take part in the fight against the disease hence the donation. We are committed to continue working with the Government to defeat the disease and uplift lives of Malawians,” Sheikh Mussah says.
Eugin Katenga Kaunda who is the District Health Officer for Salima said the donation has come timely as cases of the disease continue rising in the lakeshore district.
In his remarks , MP Kapiseni commemded the foundation for the donation. The legislator has asked other well-wishers to join the government in the fight against the disease that has claimed many lives thus far.
The foundation donated cotton wool , oral rehydration salts , gloves, chlorine, BP machine and adult weighing scale among others worth over 5 (Five) Million Kwacha bankrolled by Dubai Charity Association.
Darussunah Foundation has thanked the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for always supporting Malawians in various areas such as health, education and sanitation.
