The Malawi national football team, The Flames is starting 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against South Sudan today at Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu has asked the players to focus on the game and emerge winners.
FAM boss has advised the team to start the campaign on a high note with a big win and not to underrate South Sudan.
The team is expected to feature its South African based stars, Gabadinho Mhango, Gerald Phiri Jnr and Richard Mbulu.
Yamikani Chester who plays in United States of America is also expected to make it in the first eleven.
On Sunday, 17th October, 2019 the team will travel to Uganda to play against Uganda national football team, the Cranes as its second 2021 AFCON qualifiers match at Namboole stadium in Uganda’s capital , Kampala.
Malawians living in Uganda say they are are ready to support the team.
Malawians are in Uganda for academics and business among other reasons.
