Former Flames and Bullets Goalkeeper Dies

Former Flames and Nyasa Big Bullets goalkeeper, Trust Lunda has passed on ,Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed.

According to a statement issued by FAM, Lunda has passed on this morning.

“FAM is mourning the death of former Flames and Nyasa Big Bullets goalkeeper Trust Lunda who passed on this morning after a long battle with Cancer,”

“Lunda was part of the star studded Bullets squad that reached the group stages of the 2004 CAF Champions League,” reads a statement by FAM.

According FAM, Linda made his Flames debut during a Cosafa Castle Cup match against Namibia in Windhoek, with the hosts wining 3-2.

“In total he earned six Flames caps and his last match was a friendly encounter against South Africa in Spetember 2008,” reads a statement.

FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda said,

“Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for the loss. He was such a great son of our game and will be sorely missed.”

His funeral programme will be announced later, according to FAM.
