Girls Activist Youth Organization (GAYO) with assistance from World Vision on Wednesday donated protective gears to Mchinji District Hospital to fight against the novel coronavirus.
Speaking during the donation ceremony which took place at the district hospital ,GAYO Girls’ Coordinator Charity Chafutwa said the organization thought it wise to do good deeds by sharing a little they had to the hospital in the fight against the pandemic.
“As a country, we have been affected with COVID-19 pademic so we thought it wise to share a little we have to Mchinji District Hospital and this is not our first time to do good deeds”, Chafutwa said.
In her remarks, Mchinji District Hospital Senior doctor, Stelia Mlepo commended organisation for the initiative saying the donation will go a long way in fight against COVID-19.
Mlepo further asked other well-wishers to come and help them since the protective gears which GAYO has donated will not carter all heath centers in the district.
“We are very grateful to receive this donation that will assist us in fighting COVID-19 and we are asking others to emulate by helping us with any assistance”, Mlepo said.
The organization has donated 50 buckets and 50 liquid soap worthy over MK400, 000 and is working in partnership with CISE and World Vision in the exercise.
