IIB Youth Desk’s Boys camp Begins in Blantyre

In a bid to impart Islamic Knowledge and encourage Muslim youth to be valuing education, Islamic Information Bureau IIB youth desk office has organize a camp in Blantyre.

The three day camp started on Friday, 6 April 2012.

According to the IIB youth desk officer Jafali Idana over 200 hundred boys are attending the event which has seen several prominent local sheikhs giving lectures on different issues such as education and HIV/AIDS.

‘’Apart from local lecturers, we will also have to have some speakers from Britain,’’ he said.

Among the local sheikhs to grace the occasion are Zaid Abdulrasheed,Abdulaziz Yasin and Yusuf Janna.

This the third time for the office to conduct such an event.

Last year the event was held in the capital city of Lilongwe.

Asked to explain on what benefits are camps bringing to the Muslim community, IDana said

‘’the camps gives students a platform to express their challenges in their lives and discuss possible challenges.’’

‘’These also aim at reminding the youth on their roles as Muslims and updating them on the current developments in the Muslim world. The theme of this camp is ‘Education today-not tomorrow’.

In a related development Muslim Association of Malawi in conjunction with Muslim Sisters Youth Organization MUSYO has organized a sister’s camp which has commenced today at Assalaam Girls School in Zomba.The camp has been conducted with funding from World Assembly of Muslim Youth WAMY.
