Renowned nasheed artists, Ishmael Katawala and Alfred Kanonji have released a new piece titled “Coronavirus”.
In an interview with Malawi Muslim website , Katawala disclosed that the nasheed released on Wednesday, 25th March 2020.
When asked why did he came up with a title ” Coronavirus” Katawala said,” Following the situation updates about Coronavirus Pandemic we thought it wise that we can disseminate the message about the virus through Nasheed.”
“In this Nasheed we have talked more about how people can prevent from contaminating this virus,” Katawala said.
He said it is the duty of artists to help in the fight against the disease.
“As we all know that even the health department of this country is on a campaign disseminating information on how we can prevent from this virus,”
“We have also outlined some of the preventive measures, some of these are : Masking mouth and nose, Washing hands regularly, when sneezing use the flexed elbow.” Said Katawala
He added to say that, ” Though we can be following these preventive measures Let’s not forget making supplications (duas) so that Allah should help us in curing the Pandemic.”
Recently, Muslim association of Malawi has also issued a statement on the same issue about Coronavirus pandemic.
The country has not received any case of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
