Islamic Information Bureau (IIB) on Sunday officially opened new office in Ntcheu District.
National Coordinator for IIB Sheikh Dinala Chabulika said his organisation decided to open the office after noticing the ever increasing of misconceptions about Islam in the area.
According to Chabulika, one of the misconceptions many people in the area had in mind is that Islam is only for the people of Yao tribe.
“Therefore, we thought of proving them wrong by opening our office here. Islam is for all mankind – whether you are a Yao or not,” he said.
“We will try to patronize the bureau as much as we can so that we can learn the true teaching of Islam. We just hear a lot of bad things about Islam but with the coming of this office I think it will help to open our minds. This is a precious gift Muslim Association of Malawi has given us therefore we can’t take it for granted,” he said.
IIB is a non-profit entity established in the year 1999 by Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) after realising that there is a great demand and interest in understanding and acquiring knowledge about Islam by both Muslims and non-Muslims alike in Malawi. To this effect, seminars discussions and workshops have been held and a number of books have been printed and translated in local languages on Islam.
Since its establishment, IIB has opened 14 offices; 13 in Malawi and one in Lusaka, Zambia.
The Ntcheu office is located near Main Masjid at the Ntcheu Trading Centre.
Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
