Darussunnah Foundation has drilled a multi-million solar powered borehole at Chankhasi Secondary School , Nkhandwe village, Traditional Authority (TA) Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.
The project which has consumed MK 10 Million has been handed over to the community today.
Representing Darussunnah Foundation at the function, Sheikh Swaleh Ibrahim who is the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Secretary for Nkhotakota district, reiterated on the need for the community to care of the project.
“This area had no portable and clean water and the borehole has solved that challenge. Now, the secondary and the clinic have portable water which is a very good news to the community. Don’t steal items here,” he said.
Speaking at the same function, Chankhasi Secondary School Director Andrew Malovu commended the Islamic foundation for the development.
Malovu said people of Nkhandwe are grateful and pledges to take care of the project.
“This village is now developing . As you can see, we have our own primary school, secondary school and clinic . The borehole has come at a right time because all these facilities need portable and clean water to operate effectively,” the Director said.
The organization has also drilled another solar powered borehole at Nkhotakota district’s main mosque, Taba.
Darussunnah Foundation drills boreholes in Malawi to enable people access portable and clean water. The organization gets funding from well-wishers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
