Alhamdulillah, today the organisation has honoured its pledge – rescuing over 8,500 households.
“We promised people that we want to make this distributions and Alhamdulillah we have fulfilled and we are still looking for more funds so that we can buy some extra packs which will be distributed within Blantyre,” said Sherifa Mia Islamic relief Malawi Head of programs.
Mia: This year’s iftar program has been very successful
Speaking during the iftar distribution in Blantyre at Soche Mosque after doing the same in other districts like Machinga, Balaka, Chiradzulu and chikwawa, Mia said the total amount of 158 million kwacha has been spent for this year’s program which was funded by Islamic relief Europe and North America.
She further said Muslims in the country should expect a lot in the other years to come since the organization will increase its food packages.
“Islamic Relief representative from our head office in UK are also in the country who came to monitor the Iftar program and they are convinced and we hope that next time we will get more funding for this program,” said Mia.
