Good news to the Malawi Muslim community!
What could be good news to the Malawi Muslim community, President Dr Joyce Banda has revealed that her government has given a go ahead to those who want to open Islamic banks and Islamic University in the country.
President Dr Joyce Banda was speaking during the official opening of the 2013 Muslim women Ijatmah in Lunzu, Blantyre where she was Guest of Honour.
“Some countries in Africa have Islamic banks, why shouldn’t it be the same with Malawi? I would like to reveal here that my government has given a go ahead to Muslims who want to establish the Islamic banks as well as Islamic University in the country. I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t have it here also,” she said amid chants from the Muslim women.
JB also vowed to continue giving her support to Muslims in the country “come rains, come sunshine”.
She said she takes Muslims like any other persons therefore she cannot allow them to be discriminated in any way.
In Malawi, almost all other denominations have their own universities except Muslims and this indeed could be good news to the Malawi Muslim community whose children are failing to enter into University of Malawi due to competition among other factors.
