Muslim scholars in Malawi were drilled into the true teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) at a three-day workshop held at Blantyre Islamic Mission (BIM) in Blantyre.
BIM Principal Sheikh Muhammad Muaz Siddik Nadwi said the aim of the workshop was for the scholars to discuss and exchange ideas on matters to do with Islam. He said some people don’t understand their own faith which makes them to easily be manipulated.
“Though the school of thought may be different, it can help us exchange ideas and come up with proper conclusions for all ummah to benefit. When asked, they should be able to respond with evidence because many people don’t understand their faith properly that is why they are easily been manipulated,” he said.
Maulana Saeed Umar who was the Guest of Honour also said such workshops are important because there are so many spreading innovations which the scholars must undestand and find ways on how to stop them by adhering to the true teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“When we look at workshops of this nature, they are very important because they help us to discuss what true Islam is and what false Islam is. It becomes an eye opener and gives the participants an enthusiasm to go out and defend Islam,” he said.
The workshop, held under the theme Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’a (Beliefe and methodogy) was BIM’s 6th, and started on August 18 through August 20.
