A Malawian student has bagged a First Class Honours Degree at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) during the university’s 30th graduation ceremony held on Friday, 10th June 2022.
The student, Bright Malenga has managed to get a CGPA of 4.55 out of 5.0 in Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication (BSc MAC).
Speaking in an interview with Malawi Muslim Website, Malenga attributed his academic success to hard-working and prayer.
“When I joined the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in 2018, I challenged myself to work hard in my studies. I didn’t plan for a First Class Degree but I wanted a better Degree. During my studies, I was always asking God to increase my knowledge. I am sure prayer and hard-working have helped me to pass my undergraduate degree with flying colors,” Malenga told the Malawi Muslim Website.
The student says it was not easy to get the First Class Degree regarding the fact that in Uganda Education is competitive.
“Uganda is one of the countries with smart students in Africa and they have the best universities. Unlike in Malawi, students reach Senior 6 (High School) before joining the university so studying with them makes you pull up your socks to fit in their shoes,” Malenga said.
The fresh graduate has commended Bilal Trust -Central Region for sponsoring his education.
“Studying abroad is expensive. I need to thank Bilaal Trust-Central Region for sponsoring my education in Uganda. My mum would not manage to support me but Bilaal Trust-Central Region supported me financially to make this dream come true,” he said.
