Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Chairperson Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad has pledged to support the Islamic Vision and Mission (IVM)’s dream of constructing an Islamic University in Malawi.
Sheikh Idrissa made the remarks on Wednesday this week during the official launch of Muft Abbas Islamic University Official Fundraising in Mangochi, the IVM’s initiative.
“This is a good initiative which needs to be embraced by everyone. This is why I have brought with visitors from Turkey to appreciate the development and to show my total support towards IVM,” he said.
He then donated two million kwacha towards the initiative and encouraged IVM team to be serious with the fundraising activities so that the 20 billion kwacha goal should not just go in vain.
Sheikh Muhammad further thanked Malawi’s President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for his support towards the development.
Minister of Homeland Security and Internal affairs Honourable Richard Banda who represented the Chakwera graced the function as guest of honour.
“Your presence here just shows your commitment to improving infrastructure development and the good working relationship that exists between MAM and government. This should not be the end.We want to see you during the official launch of the construction of the university because this one is just the launch of fundraising,” added the National Chairperson.
