Now is an established tradition, for Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) getting involved in responding to the alarming food crisis in the Lower Shire districts of Malawi.
In continuing easing the tension of hunger crisis in Malawi, the umbrella body of Islamic Organizations in Malawi, the Muslim Association of Malawi, added astride, as it distributed relief food items at Mwanamakolo Primary School, in the traditional authority Ngabu in Chikwawa district.

The distribution of relief food items continues amid understanding that, while the food crisis is a Malawi’s malady, but it is even heightened in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts respectively.
Speaking after the distribution, National Chairman of the Muslim Association of Malawi, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, assured people of the two lower shire districts of a continued support of relief food items.
“MAM is geared to carry relief food items distribution to the districts of the Lower Shire up to the end of the year 2016.”
“With last year’s flooding, which left hundreds homeless, gardens washed away, and of a low and poor harvest this year, MAM will continue to provide relief food items to you the people of the lower shire” , said MAM chairman.
Hon. Karim:Sheikh Muhammad has brought unity among Muslims in the country
Member of Parliament of the area Ilyas Abdul Karim, as token of appreciation applauded the leadership of today’s Muslim Association of Malawi, under the flagship of Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, saying it has brought unity and sense of belonging to Muslims in Malawi.
“As a member of parliament, a Muslim and on behalf of the people of the lower shire, I found visionary leadership in Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad”, said Abdul Karim.
In his special appeal, the legislator, asks the Muslims in Malawi, to support the incumbent Chairmanship of the Muslim Association of Malawi.
“He (Idrissa Muhammad) deserve to continue with his visionary leadership, full of love and compassion and equal sharing of resources”, said the legislator.
Selena Livason: the relief items were timely arranged
Over seven hundred families, benefitted from the relief food items in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts respectively. The relief food items is a donation which MAM gets from Revival of Islamic Heritage Society for Africa Continent Committee based in Kuwait.
