A 32 year old man in Nkhotakota has been arrested for allegedly causing grieveously harm his wife at Samuel village in the district.
Nkhotakota police station public relations officer Paul Malimwe has identified the suspect as Ernest Nambazo of Samuel village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota.
According to Malimwe, the suspect has been alleging his wife for being in love affairs with another man within the village.
“On July 03, 2023, the suspect went to a drinking spree and came back at around 22:00 hours,”
“Upon arrival, he coincidentally met with his wife coming from outside the house to answer a call of nature,” he says.
Malimwe adds: “The husband furiously asked his wife where she was coming from and the wife narrated everything but this did not convince the husband hence he suspected her that she was coming from having sexual intercourse with the alleged man,”
“In no time, he forcibly pierced into the private part of the woman using his finger to verify if she indeed had sexual intercourse with another man.”
Later, the suspect took a wooden stick and start assaulting the wife mercilessly, blood start oozing from the eyes and she become unconscious, according to the police public relations officer.
” Some well-wishers came for her rescue and took her to Alinafe mission hospital for treatment and examination, “Malimwe says.
The suspect is currently in Police custody and is expected to appear before court of law soon to answer the charge of causing grieveous harm.
