Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President , Dr Lazarus Chakwera yesterday told the press that MCP has evidence that National Registration Bureau (NRB) and Malawi Electoral Commision (MEC) are planning to rig the forthcoming fresh presidential election slated for 2nd July, 2020.
Chakwera says NRB is registering underage children to partipate in the election.
“NRB has registered children who are under the age to be registered. This has happened in the first phase of MEC registration process in the southern region”, says Chakwera.
MCP Information Technology Expert Daud Suleiman says his team conducted a research on NRB and MEC rigging plot.
“As of 1st April 2020, we have found that MEC in its data they have registered 6,859,570 people while NRB has registered 14,727,277 people”
“We have also found that NRB is keeping information for people who were born in 1800 that means these people are alive,” says Suleiman.
He added to say “we have also found that More than 1 Million people who have registered are under the age to be registered.”
