Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football Club has once again reshuffled its technical panel by appointing new technical director, Mark Harrison.

The Briton has replaced Edington Ng’onamo who before the appointment of Alex Ngwira was serving both head coach and technical director for the team.

Harrison has signed a two year contract with the Lali Lubani outfit and he will be responsible for the development of football at the club from the reserves all the way to the main team.

The former Everton Football Club goalkeeper coach said he was delighted to sign for the nomads saying he can’t wait to get started.

The 61 year old former Botswana top flight league champion with Township Rollers Football will be in the country any time soon as he is currently in South Africa.

On winning the championship this season, the former Caps United Football and Gor Mahia Football Club Coach said that is unrealistic dream this season looking at the gap between the nomads and the log leaders Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club who are 15 points above them.

“Winning the title this season is very unrealistic when you consider the gap between wanderes and Big Bullets who are unbeaten in any competition and are 15 points ahead of us, that means they have to lose 5 games hoping we win all our remaining matches which I don’t think it’s realistic.” said Harrison in interview from his base in South Africa

He further added that he will first watch some local games and the teams performances before bringing his ideas to the team.

“My immediate task will be to improve the standards of coaching at the club and the play before bringing in the European mentality into the team. I know the team is in transition and have made some changes in the last few months that are aimed at making this club a success.” he said

Harrison’s track record includes stints as goalkeeper coach for English premiership side, Everton where he also coached their Under-23 side.

Among others, in Africa he has coached Caps United Football Club in Zimbabwe, Mpumalanga Black Aces Football Club, Chipa United Football Club and Golden Arrows Football Club in South Africa, Township Rollers in Botswana and more recently Gor Mahia in Kenya.

His notable achievements include winning the Botswana top-flight league with Rollers in 2016 and winning the Chibuku Super Cup with Harare City Football Club in Zimbabwe in 2017.

Currently Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are on position six in the league with 37 points from 20 games.
