Minister of Education, Agnes Nyalonje, has assured Malawians that that all is set for the 2020 Malawi School Certificate of Educations (MSCE) Examinations which starts from 5th January -29th January, 2021.
Nyalonje dismissed fears in speculations following alleged reports that are circulating in the media that the practical subject which is the first subject to be re –administered on 5th January, has been leaked saying all these are lies, the examinations are intact.
Nyalonje also assured Malawians that all Covid -19 preventive measures will be followed in all the centres across the country to be manned by at least 772 Malawi Defense Force (MDF) soldiers deployed to provide security during re –administration of the 2020 Malawi School Certificate of Educations , with a warning to the general public that anyone found forwarding MSCE Examinations on Whatsapp will be investigated, arrested and prosecuted by law.
Meanwhile, the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) in conjunction with the Ministry of Education has released the 2020 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Educations (PSLCE), saying out of 225,387 learners that have passed only 84,987 learners have been selected to public secondary schools across the country due to limited space, describing this year’s pass rate as the highest for the last 5 years, saying this is an improvement from last year’s pass rate.
“Out of 135,478 female candidates who sat for PSLCE,104,781 have passed and out of 141,529 male candidates, 120,606 have passed, and out of 1,997 Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates 1,382 have passed, the highest boy got 434 out of 500 while the highest girl got 432 out of 500” said Nyalonje.
The Minister is advising parents and guardians that those selected to various public secondary schools should report for classes on 1st February, 2021.
