In a bid to expose their talents and use it in propagating Islam, Blantyre based Muslim nasheed artists have organized an event aimed to showcase their talent.
The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 30 2011 at Kameza training centre in Blantyre city.
It is rare for Muslim youth artists in Malawi to hold such events though the country has numerous nasheed artists.
Sometimes when events like these ones are organised they attract low patronage.
But one of the artists Ishmael Katawala when speaking to Radio Islam during Bwalo la Achinyamata programme which was monitored by Malawi Muslims Official Website, said the event is aimed at exposing the talent Muslim youth have in regard to singing.
‘’I think time has now come for us to be holding live performances. Apart from exposing the talent ,this will also play a role in preventing Muslim youth from indulging themselves in forbidden activities over the weekend since they do not go to school,’’ said Katawala who came into the lime light with his album ‘The spread of Islam’ last year.
Artists lined up to perform include Kadhaf Ahmad Pilo who has released his second album which has nasheeds like ‘Moyo ndi samu yochotsera’, Grant Norman, Muhamad Chirimba and the ever green Salimu ‘MP3’ Kumpita who has also released his hit single ‘Tinene zoona’ from his fourth coming album.
Speaking during the same programme, Pilo urged Muslims especially the youth to patronize the event in large numbers as a way of giving support to the local Muslim artists.
‘’We are promising you that you will not get disappointed at this function since we are preparing for the event around the clock,’’he said.
Apart from nasheeds performances, comedian Hussein Gopole popularly known as Anganga Afiki will also spice up the event.
With his presence at the function, Muslims are expected to sample live performances of his comedies from his latest DVD.
One of the Malawi’s renowned Sheikhs Mustahab Ayami will also grace the occasion to encourage the Muslim youth to use their various talents in spreading Islam.
