Muslim girls in the country have been urged to work hard in both Islamic and secular education.
The call came during a get-together held over the weekend at Mangochi Development and Education Centre in Mangochi district, which was organized by Ummu Hamza Madrassah.
Speaking in an interview with Muslim Media Agency, Sheikhat Amina Frank, the headmistress of the madrassah, said girls should refrain from doing unnecessary things to avoid early marriage as well as unwanted pregnancy.
She also said that the get together was organised to encourage the girls that they should prioritize Islamic beliefs.
The guest of honor at the event, Sheikh Abdul Nur Fundi, said that girls should always wear the appropriate hijab in order to be safe from men who rape girls and also should respect their parents.
” Therefore, girls are advised to work hard on education in order to be potential citizens,” Sheikh Fundi said.
One of the girls attended event, Shamimu Yatina, a student at Orama Private Secondary School said the event was important.
“I benefitted a lot and surely, I will value my studies over everything,” she said.
More than 300 hundred girls from Mangochi district took part in a get-together that was held under the theme “Leading Lady”
